Pony Party

HRH is FOUR. I can NOT believe it.

Oh - and she got brand new front teeth for her Birthday!

She also got a Pony Party. Yes, I know that I said I was going to do a Bee party. Unfortunately, HRH really didn't give a sh*t about what I wanted to do. One of us needs to realize who these parties are REALLY about. Anyway, she won.

The invites were done by Emily of Let's Geaux Party (of course!) - and were cards with balloons tied to them. I can't get the pics to upload right now, so you will just have to settle for an inflated balloon.

HRH loves, loves, loves My Little Ponies. The mischevious Rainbow Dash is her favorite. I was at a loss on how to decorate a 'pony party' tastefully, so I decided to focus on Rainbow Dash.

I kept it pretty simple on the sweets table. I just separated out skittles by color and threw them into candy jars. Unsanitary, but gets the rainbow across.

For the backdrop - t is just foam wrapped in a teal plastic tablecloth. Then I cut foam out in shape of clouds to add some depth.

How amazing is that cake? BE loves carousels, and I believe ponies and carousels go hand in hand. Aly B's bakery whipped up exactly what I wanted for the cake, and the horseshoe cookies.

For the playroom, I took every color of sparkle mesh I could find and draped, draped, draped. The goal was to make the playroom look like a carousel. I think it came across.

The Hubby made the little tables with basic supplies from lowes. Then I had him drill hole in center so I could put the 1 1/4" PVC pipe through it. I steadied the pvc pipe by using Christmas Tree stands I found at Big Lots. Then just wrapped with ribbon.

Not sure why I didn't take pictures of the crafts - but they each got a gable box "stable" with a sparkly pony inside to decorate. Glitter, stickers, markers, crayons, letters - whatever their little sugar hearts desired.

Then I surprised HRH with real ponies. This is Pinkie Pie, but Rainbow Dash was there too. She flipped.

You can't see it, but the ponies were actually painted sparkly, too. Such a great surprise - the kids all loved it.

And Finally - HRH blowing out the candles. I love that kid.

Organic Bloom Party

I had a party - and no one showed up! Everyone is going nuts over the Organic Bloom Frames - 54 different colors available. And the great thing is - everyone can still order here At DeannArnold Photography. (enter bloom)

And it gave me an excuse to play around with my kitchen table. I have used and reused these logs at least ten times in the past year.

So sorry if you are sick of seeing them, I LOVE THEM.

I was pretty cheap on this party - because I am saving for NYC. So I just went to Walmart and grabbed cheese, proscuito, fruit and nuts. Also grabbed one bunch of flowers that I just split, and I had bought the cookie dough from one of HRH's school fundraisers.

Pretty sure these little leaves came from a dollar tree

I can't resist re-using the left over patio slate as cheese boards. So effortless.

Little Tip I learned: when serving wine and cheese, instead of grabbing the assortment of fruit, just grab a thing of strawberries, grapes and blueberries - they go better with the cheese and you probably save $5.

Louisiana Labor Day

Louisiana is a unique state but our cuisine is the BEST in the world! Tony Chacheres, Tabasco sauce, Zapps potato chips, Abita and of course CRAWFISH!

Using a pallet as the backdrop, mason jars were hung and filled with colorful candies accented with a swampy net and Spanish moss, plastic crabs and crawfish. A fabulous rag garland using the most cheerful and festive of fabrics, including stripes decorated the front of the table.

An impossible to find B-52 model is proudly displayed on the side, as well as an Eagle bust next to the flowers to celebrate and honor our local B-52 community and MY HUBBIE!

The party printables and hand-painted platter with crabs, shrimp and crawfish complimented the Louisiana theme. Galvanized pails held the corn and potatoes, the traditional side items for a crawfish boil.

The “Clean-up Station” was made from a clearance shelf from Hobby Lobby, spray painted with white epoxy. It held a paper towel roll, as well as ice-cold washcloths and lemons for cleaning spicy hands.

Blue plastic hamburger containers worked perfectly for individual helpings of Crawfish, and newspaper lining has long been considered the best way to contain the mess.

Add some colorful lanterns, a Target tablecloth, and several dollar-bin finds – and you have a Louisiana Labor Day!

Zebras & Zinnias

I love how certain things just happen.

For instance, Emily, (at Magnolia Creative), found a piece of remnant fabric that she loved with a bright green zebra stripe. She asked if I thought we could do an entire party of this fabric.

WELL, OF COURSE!

But we didn't want it rock star, or too teen oriented. And we wanted to be able to reuse the majority of linens and concrete pieces for a hairy-legged boy if necessary.

So we thought about it, and then decided on ZEBRA and ZINNIAS.

How much fun was this to plan? TONS. Emily found Zinnia favors, I found ribbon and a planter with the zebra print. We ordered royal icing flowers and butterflies, Emily created all the incredible printables and everything else was already owned by one of us. (Four tupperware boxes in my trunk, a plat (?) of Zinnias, camera gear and a kid JUST in my car)

Re-use, Re-purpose

Emily made the above cake, then we added the wafer butterflies. Simple and Stunning.

Backpacks

I started some dilligent research yesterday on backpacks. HRH is starting school August 15th - I am hoping she miraculously turns into a sweet little Catholic school girl - not like the ones Billy Joel sings about.

Well, it turns out, they aren't allowed to bring their own backpacks. BUT, since I had already done the research - this is for YOU.

HRH is a chick, but I would totally like to believe she would be uber crushing on the dashing young gent who sport this to school:

We are huge fans of all things neoprene in our house. These Dabbawall bags would fit in nicely.

Skip Hop has a variety of adorable animal packs, like this owl:

And for the more tradionalists - I like these next three. The LLbean one has some hardcore good reviews. I believe that it was ultimately what we would have gone with... but who knows now?!

Kelty - I haven't heard of, but read several sites giving it great reviews.

REI has Northface, which is always dependable. AND attractive AND durable.

I still believe we would have gone with LLbean, you just can't argue with that many people, PLUS it is a "junior" backpack for the toddlers. I like that. But we would get it in pink.

Lunch Box FUN

HRH will start school this fall. Needless to say, I am very excited at the prospect of wearing uniforms to school. I can't wait to get all her sweet little collars mongrammed. And bloomers. And socks.

I started yesterdady on my search for a suitable lunch box. First instinct was Pottery Barn, but I decided to do a little reasearch first.

GoodHousekeeping released a study in 2009 on lunch box effectiveness. Out of 43 lunch boxes tested, guess how many kept the lunch under the standard safety temp of 40 WITH a cool pack for the minimum two hours? None. Not one. Zip, zilch, nada. Scary, right?

So I started digging a little more - the survey was from 2009, so surely there was a lunch box out there that met the safety requirements. And I found one.

LLBean has this lunch box for a whopping $14.95 and it comes in LOTS of colors. It passed the cooling requirements for FIVE hours. With monogramming AND shipping - $20. Glad I did my research before spending too much money on a crap lunch box. (We chose pink with a grey butterfly)

SO - now I have the lunch box. But how do I fill it? A quick trip to amazon solved that as well.

How awesome are these? They cut the sandwich into bite size pieces AND remove crust. Love them.

I hate how amazon has the "customers who bought this, also bought this" section. Because of this, I also bought these egg shapers - cause HRH will chow down on some hard boiled eggs.

And I bought some sandwich containers so they don't get smooshed - and a book on 100 lunches for lunch boxes.

Now we are ready. (Except for the nap mat, uniforms, bows, backpack.... SCHOOL IS FUN!)

Last night... while peacefully lying in bed with the sweet, cuddley HRH, she looks up at me with those big green eyes and said "Mommy, will you get me some milk?"

I had already fetched her milk prior to this - so I responded "No"

and then the lovely HRH looked up at me with the sweetest broken smile you have ever seen and said "Mommy, I'm going to break your neck"

Hmmm. Guess there will be another long talk with her father.

On a lighter, much happier note - My KK is back. She has been out for six weeks due to the birth of her latest kid. Which meant to me, no lunches, no after work bible study.
(BTW, after work bible study is code for beer)
(Unless you are Mrs Bev, in which case - just kidding - how's Bobby?!?)

Back from the beach - HRH

I just got back from the beach. Sniff, sniff. I do not like the idea that I can't just wake up and walk outside into sand. I like sand. I like it in my hair, I like it in my swuimsuit, I like to throw it at Mommy. I just really like sand.

Happy Memorial Day - REAL PARTY

Fantastic Memorial Day weekend! Spent Saturday on the lake, Sunday at the pool and Monday grilling with friends in the back yard. Couldn't have been better.
Because I LOVE to go a little overboard for parties - I had a LOT of fun Monday. My husband kept asking, "Why do you want me to go get a wooden pallet?" But I KNEW it was going to be a fun addition to the festivities. And functional.

Budget Friendly Patriotic Party

Whew! What a great weekend. Exhausted.

Emily from Magnolia Creative and I worked on a Budget Friendly Patriotic Themed Party. We started off with an idea of using a more muted, classic American theme. Then Emily designed the amazing printables and we were off. Dollar store finds, previously purchased items and a lot of baking

This party could be used for Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, a Welcome Home party (close to my heart), or a few minor changes and you have a baseball party! .

I took the pictures, but Emily is editing them. So in the mean time - here are my NOT so professional photos of the party.

Main table:

Originally we discussed covering the entire table with a white cloth - but that would have hidden the charm of the table. The flags were left over from my Husband's return home from Baghdad (told you this was extra special to me). A few $1 tins from Hobby Lobby, some sand and the flowers from our daughters' recital.
The apples for the garland were half off at Hobby lobby, soI just threaded some twine through and added ribbon accents to the end.
The white tableware, I already owned. As well as the Dollar tree sink shelves that I sprayed white and use for almost EVERYTHING now.
I also already had the burlap table runner - which you will almost always see on my tablescapes. Clean, simple.
For drinks we had Pellegrino, cane cola and lemonade.

The food was traditional. Hotdogs, potato chips, cookies, cupcakes and a Cherry Pie!

It was so much fun to work with Emily - and I can't wait to reuse this again and again. And just two more photos - because I can't think red, white and blue and not think of this:

I just got back from a trip to Boston. What a city, I could totally live there.

Everywhere we ate was delicious, B&G Oyster House, Uni Sashimi, Doyles, Union Oyster Bar. And I had, for the first time, Blueberry beer. Yummmmmmmm.

A Red Sox game at Fenway Park, not sure it gets better than that. (AND they won!)

The shopping on Newbury Street was fabulous, but the shopping on Charles street was where we spent the majority of our money. The Red Wagon specifically. Could not buy enough from there - Lobster sweaters, sweet nightgowns, hats, shoes, ahh. I love that place. AND, I found another store that I bought HRH some TRETORNS from. Yes, I said Tretorns. Yes, I know that I am severely dating myself. I never owned a pair growing up - so it was even more exciting to buy HRH a pair. They are white with pink swishes and plaid pink and yellow ribbon laces. I want a pair.

We also stopped by the Sam Adams Brewery and took a tour. They took us through the brewery that makes a whopping 1% of their beer. See if this explains the process to you:

As we walked through history (with the occasional pub stop) in the town of Boston, we were overwhelmed with how badly we wished we had brought our kids.

Our frequent travel companions, the Payne, currently have three children and a fourth on the way. We of course, have just HRH. None of us could think of anything besides how much our children would have enjoyed this town. (Ok, and we thought about beer, too).

We stayed at the incredible Eliot Hotel in Back Bay - this was very convienent for Newbury street shopping and dining, and of course Fenway Park. Not sure if we would stay there with children though.

Pascal: my Chameleon - HRH

Yesterday Mommy made me dress like her. It was so humiliating.
I have been asking for a baby chick. All WEEK. So when Daddy and I were taking our naps, Mommy went to the store to find a chick. Unfortunately, PetCo doesn't sell them. So she brought home something even BETTER. A Chameleon.

She woke me and Daddy up with all the noise she was making trying to assemble the cage. Daddy is an Engineer, Mommy isn't.

So I picked out the name Pascal, because I love Tangled. And I made Mommy and Daddy take her to the party that afternoon. Pascal was a HUGE hit, until she pretended to be dead. Who knew Chameleon's tire out that quickly?!

I ran around showing Pascal to all my friends - and telling them this was "My Chameleon"

And now, I get to introduce to you! Isn't she the MOST AWESOME CHAMELEON EVER?!?!?

Her Royal Heinous, a brief explanation

My 3 year old daughter started this blog when she was 1. She would sneak into the 'puter' room when I wasn't paying attention, which is often, and would explain life from her tiny (and often kinda bitchy) vantage point.

She, my daughter, is Her Royal Heinous. Or HRH as she chooses now. I have since hijacked her blog for my own selfish reasons. It makes her very mad. But she has learned to tolerate me over the year(s) and besides, I am the one that will be paying for her therapy later on.

She occasionally still pops up on here - always identifying herself as "HRH" in the heading. But, I thought I would share a couple of my favorite posts she has done in the past. Here are some snipets of wisdom from HRH waaay back from August 2009:

Evergreen Charity Event Part II - WestSide Story

And here is the WestSide Story table. We worked enormously hard on this table. Although, it didn't have the "uumph" factor that people experienced when they saw the Breakfast at Tiffany's table, it took a lot more creativity. This is the table I am most of proud of. Audrey and I started this table from a sketch on a bar napkin during a "Wine Lunch". It took a week or so to come to fruition, but it finally DID:

First we laid the bricks. I wish I had gotten a better photograph of their layout. They are actually placed in a jagged "U" shape. The bricks came from my demolished patio.

Then we constructed the fence. I just got PVC pipe and sprayed it silver and made my hubbie cut it to the sizes I wanted.

Next, we cut the fence - I was worried about how this part would work. But I just wove the PVC pipe into the fence and then mounted the PVC pipes to a metal holder that we screwed into a piece of plywood for balance. Pretty simple stuff.

For the signs, Audrey designed them and I printed them on photo paper. Then we just cut them out and glued to cut (and sanded) pieces of foam board. A little hot glue on the posts and we had surprisingly realistic street signs.

We raided Krogers for the flowers. We bought a HUGE bucket full of anything tropical we could find - then we arranged them in the fence at the event.

The linens were red underlay, black overlay, black napkins with sheet music as napkin rings. Dark red chargers.

The gifts were the amazing bottles of red that Audrey found. WestSide Red "Troublemaker" - could that have been any MORE perfect?

GREAT NIGHT - Breakfast at Tiffany's Table

It finally came and went: Evergreen Celebrity Dinner 2011. They raised $107,000!! What an amazing organization - and we made the night FUN.

Finished Table:

Breakfast at Tiffany's was fairly simple to construct. Wrapping paper from Sophia's Favors on boxes with the insides cut out to hols an Eiffel tower vase with peacock feathers (used for last years table and my Oscars party this year). Faux diamond napkins rings from Hobby Lobby. Turqouise napkins, runner and chair sashes from TableLinen Factory. Martini glasses filled with diamonds and pearls and hydrangeas. Audrey pics from WALMART. Champagne with either cat or dog masks in blue bags as gifts. The bags had some great quotes on them as well. Hydrangeas, silver charges and VOILA!

There was a tie for first place: BOTH of our tables. We took home the "gold". (Or, kinda cheesy, metal plaque that I will treasure forever)

Another sneak preview

I can't resist - I am so excited. I just packed up all the JUNK and it filled seven boxes and a trash bag. I hope we can get it all re-assembled in two lonely hours.

West Side Story Sneak Peak:

I can't wait to post BOTH tables - but West Side Story certainly took the most assembly. The street signs are just photo paper print-outs of my friend Audrey's photoshop skills. Then mounted to foam board, then mounted to spray painted PVC pipe.

I got my spray tan on today - and I think I threw the lady off when she asked me "would you like a sun-kissed look?" and I replied "No, I want a Puerto Rican look".

I am now darker than my Filipino husband and we have family pictures on Sunday. Who wants to bet his cute behind is going to be tanning this weekend to make sure he is not out tanned?!?!

A couple of firsts - HRH

Well -what can be expected? I AM the Queen BEe...
Mommy told me her first time to ride in a limo was when she was 21 years old - can you IMAGINE??
I was three:

That's me saying "na-na-na-na-boo-boo"

That was in March - now as of April I have had my first Mani/Pedi.

I look pretty darn comfortable.

I got to choose from every color in the rainbow. And right before Easter pics - what did I choose? Neon BLUE. Of course. With a little help from Aunt Sissy, Elizabeth (my Godsister) chose pink...

What should we do next?? Elizabeth is spending the night tomorrow (Good Friday) - I bet we can find SOMETHING interesting to do.

West Side Story

We have the fence. It won't stand up yet, but we have it.

HOWEVER - as I am sure everyone does, we start with one concept and transcend into another. Thank you Mr Burgandy.

Here are some sneak peaks of the West Side Story - before we add the fence to it. We are having to revamp our dimensions, we anticipated 2 feet of fence and I think we will be lucky to get 20 inches.

Picture moss and tropical flowers overlapping the bricks, at least we hope.

We do not plan on using fake flowers - they were just to see what we are working with. The bricks were impromptu and now my favorite aspect.

The napkins are black with a cream lace overlay to match our wine gifts. What you can't see is that the napkin ring is actually sheet music from West Side Story.

Ooooh - there is SOOO much more to come! This is only phase 1.

Every year we sponsor a table at the Evergreen Foundation Celebrity Dinner. This a foundation that is very near and dear to my heart - one that enriches the lives of people with developmental disabilities. An amazing foundation - and an amazing NIGHT.

This year's overall theme is "Old Hollywood" and we sponsored TWO tables. SO...

Table #1 will be Breakfast at Tiffany's. I know you may think this is WAY over done, but it is my cousin's very favorite movie and I think we can make it fabulous. Besides - what is NOT fabulous about Truman Capote?

Table #2 will be West Side Story. And to make things interesting, my friend Audrey and I have decided to build an actual fence to go across the table. Hmmm.... any foundation suggestions??

What have I gotten myself into?? Seriously - we start construction on the fence tonight and I am so excited. I don't know if I have ever mentioned this before, but I work full-time for my family's Oil & Gas business. Pretty scary, huh? We actually all get along pretty well - usually. (and yes, it pleases me when the price of gas goes up AND I drive a SUV)

Well guess who didn't back up their files for the past two months? Moi. Guess whose computer crashed yesterday morning? Moi. Guess who got a malware that erased EVERY SINGLE file on her computer before this happened? Moi. Guess who was the only one who had the company files on their computer? sigh...

SO - on the bright side I got a shiny new computer and a HUGE HD screen that I hooked up, too.

And on the even BRIGHTER bright side - Cupcakes and Cutlery put my Baby Shower on her blog.

Now who cares about some old stupid computer or the only copies of my family's financial records and holdings getting erased? (Mom, if you are reading this - don't freak out. I HAD backed them all up in January so they are not completely gone. I just have to go back and update)

What is the definition of inconsiderate? Probably throwing a baby shower for a friend who has Gestational Diabetes and choosing the theme "Cupcakes and Champagne". Ya think? She still loves me...

Turned our very nice - hate I didn't get pictures of the Champagne Bar - but as you can imagine - it was a BIG hit!

A few details:

Cupcake Wrapper Topiaries: wrappers from Cupcake Social, idea stolen from CraftOManiac (but I used large wrapper and straight pins instead of hot glue)

Ruffled Garland - MY FAVORITE - came from this brilliant and cheap tutorial from Cupcakes and Cutlery

This garland I made from a pack of scraps at WALMART. I despise going to Walmart - so I was just thrilled when I found this pack. I just snipped the pre-cut fabrics into two and tied them to twine - and VOILA!

Had to bring back the bunny again this year - as well as the grass matt and the patina tins :)

and OF COURSE the ants are back! Only now they have an old scale to attack instead of giant eggs.

Went to Bonnie and Clyde Trade Shows this weekend to find some junk I didn't need. I totally scored:

Soooo... after all the help I gave to Mommy over the weekend setting up for her 7th Annual Academy Awards Party.... My Jenny Claire and GDiddy showed up and swept me off. They lured me away with promises of the park. Little did I know, I would NOT be returning for the red carpet.

Funnies thing about it? Mommy forgot to take pics of the main table. So ONCE again, I so generously helped her set it back up. No food though. The food was Shrimp Cocktail with a jalepeno cocktail sauce, Salmon with cream cheese sauce and toast, Cucumber sandwiches, and Mini-Caprices.

BUT the main source of adding carbs was the Potato Bar:

There was a VIP area - but Uncle Kyle destroyed it before Mommy could take a picture. He wasn't even supposed to be allowed IN the VIP area.

Every year my friend Audrey has a parade for her birthday because it falls during Mardi Gras season. Last year the theme was books and I got third place for my "Horton Hatches the Egg" float!

This year, the theme is movies. I know it going to be fantabulous - because everything Audrey's Mommy does is. HOWEVER, Audrey's mommy keeps reminding me that this year will feature it's first DOUBLE-DECKER float.

How do I compete with that? My sandcastle that Mommy drew looks pretty pale right now...

Anyone who shows up tomorrow with a double decker will be kicked in the shins. Just sayin.

My new FAVORITE word

I have a favorite word. It is "favorite". As in, "Mommy, I need this toy, it is my favorite" or "this is my favorite snack", "THIS is my favorite snack", and the most efficient way I have learned: "Mommy, your bed is my FAVORITE".

I have also decided that I like to discipline. Especially Jezza, my dog. You see, I get a popsicle everytime I poo-poo in the potty still, but before I can get Mommy's attention to show her my poo-poo, JEZZA EATS IT. So then I run around waggin my finger saying "Jezza, don't eat my poo-poo!" Could you ever picture yourself saying those words?

I hope no one is eating while reading this....

We are having issues finding last minute SuperBowl decor. BUT - on the 75% Xmas isle - we found some cheesy green garland and a .49 peice of cardboard... and voila - a football field. We need to add Yard lines, players and goal posts - but not bad. (taken from Iphone - sorry for quality)

We are serving Deer Chili this year - so all that will be on table is tortilla chips, fritos, cheese, onions & jalepenos. And, of course, cupcakes.

My Lola & Papaw are gone back to South Carolina. They stayed with us a week and we had loads of fun. Including: not taking naps & staying up late, watching auto shows, eating lots of candy and ice cream and pretty-much-getting-away- with everything.

Mommy loves Lola & Papaw - but she says it is time for "boot-camp." I haven't heard that expression before, but I am sure an entire camp devoted to my favorite shoes can't be anything but wonderful...

I made it to 3! And Mommy threw me a Birthday Party with mermaids, I love, love, love mermaids.

See the mermaid material behind the dessert table? That is really a shower curtain - Mommy just tacked it into the frame so we can use in my bathroom now.

Here is the playroom before all the chaos began:

Cakes on Youree made me a VERY special sandcastle cake.

Facepainting was by the Uber-fabulous Neecee Blackwell Crooked Tree. Not your average artist.

And our activities included ceramic painting and sand art. (Mommy is insane and Daddy was OBVIOUSLY out of town...)

Favors were handpainted ornaments by Magnolia Creative, who also did my mermaid message in a bottle invites, rice-crispy treat toppers, and washable sippy cup stickers! Thank you Magnolia!

And just a few more details:

Jello with swedish fish, rock candy, chocolate sea-shells and mermaid lollipops!

Chests filled with delicious cake pops, lollipops and TREASURE!

A DINGLEHOPPER CHANDELIER! I was estatic to see this hanging in my room.

Insanity Part I

Daddy is in Baghdad. Mommy is insane.

FIRST - she flooded the house. Well, technically it was only two rooms, but did I mention our ENTIRE house is hardwood floors? Which means, you can't just replace the floors in one room...

SO - on top of getting the floors replaced - replacing the second A/C unit and the second hot water heater, several trips, working full time, Soccer, Ballet and planning my UBER fabulous Birthday Party - Mommy didn't think she had enough on her plate.

SO she hired a contractor to redo the back patio.

Above is the before (and before you make fun of our Ghetto Fabulous Patio - please know that Mommy and her friends have spent MANY a fun night here).

When I was a baby, Mommy was VERY concerned about my eye color. You see - I look JUST like Daddy. I mean EXACTLY - interchangeable almost.

But everyone in Mommy's family has always brown hair and blue eyes. So she REALLY hoped I would have blue eyes. And it looked like she was going to get her one wish.... at least for the first two years.

But sometime during my second year, things went awry. The Doctor said it was a sure thing after my first year I would keep blue eyes. But here is the evidence to his blatant lie:

All week long I have been looking forward to Halloween. Mommy and I practiced what I would say when I went door to door. And I was VERY excited to dress up as a mermaid:

So we went to Molly & Kate's house and then loaded up on the "tractor"

But once we got out and went to the first house - I wasn't that excited. Everyone else ran to the door, but I lagged behind a bit. I REALLY want to get back on the tractor.

Luckily, Coach Kelly was nice enough to lend his knee and talk to me about being scared.

I decided not to get out of the tractor again, and to just enjoy the ride. I don't really like candy anyway.

Then, it was my favorite part of the night - BATH TIME! Aunt Lovie and Aunt Ash thre us all in the bath together and washed our hair and got us dressed in PJs and loaded up in the bed.

We had so much fun, Jon David, Paddy, Elizabeth "Sissy", Blanton and Baby Catherine ALL went too! I really loved when Cinderella sang - and hated that I had to potty and missed some of her. But the most fun was when Tigger came out and I jumped up and bounced and bounced.

After, Blanton, Paddy and Emma came over to play. But I guess Paddy prefers blondes because Aunt Sissy took him home with her to see Elizabeth. Whatev Dude.

Punkin Shine

Mommy took me to the punkin shine. I was a bit surprise since she has categorized it along side getting a root canal.
Our town covers the entire park - which is quite large - with punkins that all the students have decorated. They are pretty cool. There are a lot. Thousands.
My God sister and brother each had a punkin this year, so Mommy caved and took me.
It was fun. I saw all kinds of punkins - even a Snookie punkin. Not sure what that means, but Mommy chuckled so I did too.

It has been a while....

well - it has been a while. I know. I might be two, but I do know some things.

My Daddy is gone. I know I shouldn't say that - but he is. He has been gone for more than four months. If you ask me, I will gladly tell you "Daddy is in an airplane. He will come home for my Birthday" AND if you are lucky, a plane will pass by and I will chase after it yelling "daddy, daddy, HI DADDY!"

I am a lucky girl to have such a brave daddy. But anyhoo...

My crazy mommy has decided that since Daddy has been gone she is going to teach me a few things. Like, saying good-bye to a pacy, a crib, and diapers. Saying hello to cool places like New Orleans, Orange Beach (we had a few good days before the oil rolled in), St Johns... well really, after St John's everything went downhill.

And REALLY annoying stuff like "yes M'aam, Thank You, Please"

Did you know you get a POPSICLE every time you poo-poo in the potty?? Had I know that, I would have done it YEARS ago. (at least two) Now if only my dog Jezza would stop eating it before I could show Mommy my accomplishments. Kisses???

I have also taken it upon myself to teach MOMMY a few things as well. Patience being the biggest of them all. And I do have to remind her every now and then that certain things, such as drowning me, are still illegal. Bless her.

My Birthday is coming up - soon. Which means Daddy is coming home. Soon. Then maybe I will stop hearing Mommy reminding herself every Wednesday "only six more days til Tuesday Boozeday". I don't get Tuesday Boozeday - but I guess that is because I stay with my Jenny Claire and GDiddy that night every week. Hmmmmmm...

A Weekend to Remember…

I can’t help but giggle as I type this – Mommy took me to New Orleans this weekend with Auntie Goodie, Blanton & Elizabeth and Aunt Kiki and Jon David. Hilarious.

First of all, the Mommies decided it would be a good idea to take ONE car for all of us. So picture me, Jon David & Elizabeth all in our carseats on the back row, Aunt Kiki in a captain’s chair and Blanton in the other captain chair.

Aunt Kiki had her work cut out for her. We did not like to coordinate – so we decided to all be thirsty/hungry at different times, could NEVER agree on a movie to watch and frequently kicked Aunt Kiki between screams.

Mommy sat shotgun and pretended we weren’t there.

So we get to New Orleans and our first stop is the Story Time Park. Wow! There was the Old Woman in the Shoe, the Three Little Pigs, Puff the Magic Dragon, Pinochio, Ole King Cole – and on and on. We climbed in the shoe and the mouth of a whale and slid down Puff’s fiery spew!

Then we went to the amusement park next door and I rode the roller coaster, the Ferris Wheel, the Tilt-a-whirl, the carousel…..

It was VERY fun day.

The next day we woke up and went to Cafe Du Monde and then Mass at St Louis Cathedral – the oldest still-functioning cathedral in North Louisiana. It was BEAUTIFUL, until Mommy flashed the Arch Bishop. Both boobies. During Mass Collection.

Then we got ready for the Audubon zoo. We took a trolley to the zoo, not realizing that it would be a MILE walk after we departed the trolley. With no restrooms on the way or beer stands. Did I mention it was a tad warm?

We finally get to the zoo and have lunch – then we start our mission to see my monkey. I can say “my monkey” because for my Baptism anniversary Aunt Goodie (my GodMother) and Elizabeth and Blanton picked our Menari, a baby orangatan and adopted her in my name. She was pretty darn cute.

We also saw my alligator.

Then it started raining and they put all the animals away, so we went to the gift shop and LOADED UP.

Of course, then Aunt Kiki lost her wallet. So we had to call Uncle Ja and have him cancel all her cards.

Next stop – Mulates, Original Cajun New Orleans Restaurant.

Mommy was pushing Jon David and accidentally spilled red wine down the back of his VERY blonde hair. Heehee, he looked funny. So Aunt Kiki whips out the shade on his stroller to protect him from more attacks. Out pops her wallet. Too late – cards all cancelled.

At Mulates they sat us by the dance floor. It was five Mommies and 8 of us kids. We danced and danced and made LOTS of new friends at other tables.

Until Security came up and started yelling at the Mommies that “Employees & Management” had been complaining. I’m not sure why Mommy was so mad – but I think it had something to do with the fact that he didn’t say the word “customers”. Why do you have a dance floor if you won’t let people dance?

Mommy cancelled the entire table’s orders while they were starting to bring out the food.

Then she went on Trip Advisor and wrote a review to say NEVER GO TO MULATES.

The next morning we went to Stanley’s and ate breakfast – the most delicious food I have ever tasted. Mommy made lots of grunts and groans while eating her Eggs Benedict. I guess that means she liked it.

We walked around Jackson Square and went for a Carriage ride – it was so much fun, and our driver – David was very nice. He even showed us where Brad and Angelina live! Mommy thinks I am going to marry Maddox one day…. he is pretty cute.

Then we loaded back up in the car and started driving home – where of course we got a hefty speeding ticket.

It was the most fun weekend ever – I love my Aunties and my best friends. You couldn’t ask for better company or a better place to spend a weekend!

BUT BOOOOO MULATES – shame on you.

River Rat

An infestation has occured. Mommy keeps laughing about “River Rats.” Now I am NO fan of rats, or any rodent for that matter, but I have to say – I spent ALL day on the river and I didn’t see a single rat…

I am ‘Good Boat People’. There is absolutely no denying it. I don’t think Mommy has ever been as proud.
Did you know that boats are what helped Mommy and Daddy figure out they were meant for each other? Mommy only dated boys during the winter months. During the Summer there just wasn’t time to babysit boys when she was supposed to be on a boat.
Then she met Daddy. Her friends laughed and asked if he would make it to the next season. BUT, Daddy had his own boat. So Mommy stayed a little longer…

Mother’s Day – belated

Mother’s Day is always fun. My Auntie Penn has everyone over and we DESTROY her property.

This year was no exception.

Piper and I were not good with taking turns. Finally our Mommy’s just made us ride together. That was pretty fun too.

Then, believe it or not, the Mommys sent US home with our Daddy’s and they STAYED. On Mother’s Day – ohhhh the SHAME.

Actually, I take that back – the Shame in that is nothing compared to the shame they should feel during moments like these:

The world’s best female golfer retires

Yes, it is true. After numerous awards and titles – Lorena Ochoa retires to spend more time with her family.

The reason this is relevant? Mommy bought me a set of golf clubs yesterday. So rest assured, Ms Ochoa’s spiked shoes will NOT go vacant for long.

I was so excited about my clubs that the first thing I did this morning was get out of bed and retrieve my pink wood (ok, plastic). THEN I went to Mommy’s room and hit her in the head with the club to wake her up.

I had the ball in my hand, but couldn’t get it to balance on her nose. Maybe tomorrow morning.

Mommy loves me.

The big bad Tin Man

We had an exciting weekend at the camp again. Blanton, Elizabeth, Catherine & TB all came out and spent the night with me.

I rode 4-wheelers through water and mud and played with crawfish. Until one of the little jerk-faces caught my finger. I shook him across the porch – NEITHER of us will try that again.

Have to say, wasn’t to sad to see him thrown into the boiler this go round. He was tasty. (just kidding, Mommy wouldn’t let me eat him. She got him first)

We were all exhausted that night – so we made a pallet on the floor downstairs and all slept. Look at what a gentleman TB is – he slept on top of the covers as to not sully Sissy and my reputations.

Sunday Mommy and I went home early to get ready for our big day. We met Elizabeth and Auntie Ray Ray for lunch, and GUESS WHO SHOWED UP? Dorothy! Can you believe she came to lunch? She brought Glenda and The Lion too. I really like the lion. I followed him around saying “rrraaawwwrrrrrr”

After lunch we went to the conservatory to take pictures. (No candlesticks and no Ms Scarlett) Everything was going fine…

Until I looked up. Then I saw that terrifying TIN MAN! Things didn’t go well…

After lunch we walked around downtown and Mommy took some pics of me and Sissy.

Yes, I know I am wearing the same outfit that I wore in my Spring pics – but please keep in mind, I don’t dress myself. This is all Mommy’s fault – bad planning.

We went to the ballet after a little energy-burning, but I guess I overdid it. I fell asleep in act I. I sure liked clapping when they danced, it was just a little too much for me in one afternoon.

It was a good weekend.

Mobsters & Molls

Mommy worked hard to put together a table for Evergreen Ministries dinner. It was a “Celebrity Waiter” event and you picked your theme and decorated your own table. She did Ok I guess.

It was dark in the room and it didn’t really capture the lighting Mommy used on the table. She had a white urn with 40 red carnations surrounding a 4 ft tall Eifel Tower Vase. Tommy guns came out of the carnations and the Tower vase was filled with crystal floral beads and flashing lights. The top of the vase exposed 35 Bleached White Ostrich feathers. Olive Picks were hidden inside the feathers and battery operated string lights.
What you can’t see, because the table ended up being SO FULL – was that Daddy took the table cloth out to the camp and shot holes all through it. Then Mommy took red paint and made blood splatters on top of it. It was pretty gruesome.
Two martini glasses were on top of mirrored plates and the centerpiece was flanked by Horsehead busts.

Old photographs and mugshots of some of the most infamous Mobsters and Molls were framed and used for seating arrangement. (Lucky Luciano pictured below)

Also above you can see the mini martini glasses that held three red carnations each and were also individually lit for each place setting.

Fish wrapped in newspapers with headlines like “Bonnie & Clyde Gunned Down” “Prohibition Ends at Last” “Capone Indited” etc. etc. Cigars added to them for the Mobsters and Cigarette Filters for the Molls and all placed on black chargers.

I'm a big girl now.. well maybe not RIGHT now

I am getting more and more like a big girl these days. I'm in my big girl bed (most of the night), I am dropping my drawers all over the house and NOW I can wear a NIGHTGOWN!

I've only worn the footed pajamas to date, so I was offended when Mommy pulled a yellow dress out last night for me to wear. I mean, it was BRIGHT yellow. As in, don't-need-a-night-light-yellow.

Then I saw it - that familiar face, that stylish bob cut - it was Da-Da-Da-Da-Da-Dora! On the front of my nightgown! It was beautiful.

I slept all NIGHT in my new night gown. When Mommy eventually held me down to pull it off of me, so I would get dressed for school, I simply carried my yellow night gown around in my arms. I took it all the way to school. Mommy is such a buzz-kill.

I’m in trouble – what do I do?

Mommy took me to daycare today and found out what I did yesterday.

I bit someone. I bit them hard, too.

Mommy is really upset, she almost cried. My teacher said they were having problems with my temper.

Another day, another camp

This weekend was my friend Piper’s Mommy’s birthday. I know – a mouthful.
We went to Piper’s camp Friday for some festivities. This “camp” had two kitchens and three living rooms. Our poor one-living-room-camp felt like a jealous red-headed step-child after this weekend.
Lots of my friends were there: Piper, Sarah Bailey, Harper, Paddy, Molly & Kate. You know it is destined to get a little crazy when we get together.

All in all, it was a good time. I may or may not have passed out early – but I don’t think Mommy and Daddy did since they looked a little green the next morning.
We woke up the following morning and went back to town because Mommy and Daddy had a juice tasting festival to attend. I still don’t understand why I couldn’t go.
When they got home, around 7 I believe, Catherine, Elizabeth and Blanton came over for dinner! It was WILD – I chased Elizabeth around on the tricycle for at least an hour. G-Diddy came over too, and Auntie Kris and soon-to-be Uncle Mitchel.
They had brought home a lot of that juice they had been tasting earlier. Mommy said she doesn’t expect my sitter, Melinda, to come back. That happens a lot.

Now THAT was a haircut

When something bad happens in life, Mommy calls it a “haircut”. For example, if she is waiting in a long line, she would say “that line was a haircut;” if TB and I are fighting over a toy “those kids are major haircuts.”

So you can understand my concern when Mommy announces that she is taking me for a haircut. I immediately protested.

It’s amazing what I let that woman convince me to do with just a quarter’s worth of Reeces Pieces…

Easter

We had lots of fun things going on at the camp this past weekend. The Bouncy house was up, the Daddies played Bocce Ball, we found Crawfish and I of course I had to spend some quality time with my friend. He doesn't talk much.

My cousin Mila was a little skidish of the crawfish at first, then she looked at Mommy and said - "Should we keep them as pets, or bake them?"

Then we had the Easter Egg Hunt - I did ok. Alright, alright, alright. I cheated and started the hunt before everyone got there. I had a full basket though!

Safe? Questionably. Fun? TOTALLY!

We had an Easter Egg hunt at my camp this past weekend. My cousins came in town and some of my best friends.

I bet I know something you don't. Did you know that there are ELVES that live in the woods by our cabins? They build little square houses in the trees with ladders and corn feeders. Not sure why there are corn feeders, but I guess Elves like deer alot.

This weekend they threw a party for the Easter Rabbit. We know because we went Elf hunting and saw the crepe paper streamers and all the stuff they had STOLEN from our camp. They are sneaky little elves....
